Eighty years ago today, on Dec. 7, 1941, Japan stunned the United States with an attack on Pearl Harbor. It was one of the defining moments in American history.
Rufus N. Geer (Pat Geer’s Father, Richard Geer’s Grandfather) was deployed to Pearl Harbor as a US Navy Seabee after the bombing at Pearl Harbor to assist in the rebuilding of the base. The Geer family has a rich tradition in military service to our country. Rufus is shown in a photo with his shipmates. The date and location of the photo are unknown.
